So I haven't posted any pictures of Lukas recently so here are a few that I took this past month.

We went to the San Fransisco zoo on the first Wednesday of August (free day!) with cousin Zoe, aunt Janelle, and uncle J. It was so much fun! Thanks guys!!

Newport, RI

So Luke and I have been in Newport, RI for the last week now and we're loving every minute we get with Matthew. Matt only has one week left until he graduates officer candidate school. I can't believe that he has been here for 11 weeks, much less that we were separated for 10 weeks! Luckily, the Lord truly did bless us and helped the time to fly by fast. Lukas did amazingly well getting reacquainted with daddy. Now he smiles , laughs, and reached for daddy every time he sees him. I love it!

Just an update on where we will be after graduating here next week. Matt has Navy Civil Engineering Corp Officer School (CECOS) starting Sept. 2nd in Port Hueneme, CA. Yes, that gives us 3 days after Matt graduates OCS here in Newport, RI to fly all the way across the country to Sacramento, pack our car in one night and then drive 6.5 hours down to Port Hueneme the next day. Totally crazy I know! I just called the base in Port Hueneme and asked about temporary housing for us since Matt was just added to this Sept. class (he was originally suppose to go the end of Jan 2009 but since we are expecting then we asked to go early). They apparently don't have any openings for housing for the first 2 weeks of school. The apartment they give us is only a one bedroom suite anyways. Oh well, we'll see what we will do for the first 2 weeks.

After CECOS ends the beginning of November we will hopefully have a couple weeks off (fingers crossed) and then will be heading back across the country to PATUXENT RIVER, MARYLAND!!! I for one never wanted to live on the East coast but since coming here to Rhode Island I love it! When Matt and I both heard that we were going to be stationed in MD for the next 2 years we were both really excited and felt that this is definitely the place we are suppose to be! We are so grateful that the Lord is always looking out for our little family and helping us to know His will.

Can Anyone Guess??!!

You got it! We're expecting baby Evans #2 on January 20th, 2009! Who knows where the Navy will have stationed us by then?! Oh yea, Luke and new baby will be exactly 18 months apart. SO FUN but SO CRAZY!!! :) We're VERY excited!

BYU Graduation

Ok, I know its been months since April graduation but here's a pic of us lookin' cute. Matt graduated with his BS in Civil Engineering and a minor in Math and Business. I graduated (well, walked - still have 3 GE's to do independent study) with a BS in Sociology.

Update on Matt: He's been out for almost 7 weeks! I cannot believe that he's been gone that long. The first 4 weeks were very hard (hence why my blog has been neglected) but now the last 3 have just flown by! I can't believe Luke and I will be flying out to see him in just a short 3 1/2 weeks (I'm staying out there with him for the last 2 weeks)!!! YAY!!!! Anyways, Matt has done AMAZINGLY well while at OCS. He's passed every test so far the first time and is at the top of his class! Why am I not surprised, he's just Matt. Boy, am I proud of my man or what?! Here is a pic of Matt lookin' good in white! :)

Officer Candidate School (OCS)

So Matt left last Saturday for Officer Candidate School in Newport, RI. For those of you who don't know, Matt is in the Navy Civil Engineering Corps. Since he just graduated college at the end of April he has to report to this Officer School for 12 weeks to be beaten physically and mentally before he can finally become an Officer in the United States Navy. I know, it sounds so fun, huh? He reported on Sunday morning and I haven't heard a word since about how he is doing. Its funny because I know the Lord will take care of him and I know we will see each other soon but it is still really hard to be here in California with him all the way over in Rhode Island! I hate being away from him....The only comforting thing is that we prayed and fasted about this choice to go into the Navy and I kid you not, the Spirit has testified to us multiple times that it is the thing for us to do. I love knowing that! But boy it is still hard to take care of Lukas and even myself without having Matty around. Thank goodness for my family though...I don't know what I would do without them!

Anyways, I just pray that he will be ok and pass every grueling test they put him through so he only has to be there for the minimum 12 weeks. yep that's right, he could fail a couple times and have to stay even longer......oh boy we won't even consider that happening! Knowing Matt though I highly doubt he will fail anything. :) But just in case if you wouldn't mind keeping him in your prayers we would really appreciate it! Thanks guys! Hey if anyone would like to send him a letter (please no packages with food or anything for that matter because they will do really mean things to him if he does get it) then just leave a comment saying you want his address and I will email it to you.

Well, I hope this time goes by quickly (even though it hasn't the past 3 days, haha) and isn't too hard for Matty...

Luke's Army Crawl

So can anyone tell by how many posts I've made today that I'm trying to avoid writing my final paper that's due this Saturday??? I can't believe that Matt and I are graduating in one week! So exciting! Even though we both are sad to leave BYU. Oh by the way, we rented a baby graduation cap and gown for Lukas to wear during our graduation! haha, I will definitely post pics!

Anyways, the real reason for this post is the fact that last Sunday Matt was playing with Lukas before church and Lukas started doing a new trick, just for his daddy! He now does the army crawl...well, with a Luke twist. You have to see this video. Notice his head...



Isn't it so cute! I love the "dada" at the end. He certainly is a talker! Well, I thought that he would probably be doing that army crawl for a long time before anything else happened but then today (Tuesday) he started going up on his knees for a little bit. He also doesn't throw his head from side to side anymore (like in the video) to inch along. He now pulls both his knees up a little and then pushes his feet to scoot him along a little faster. Another trick he figured out is to go from the sitting position to a stomach position. It isn't perfectly smooth yet but he sure is learning fast. I know that many other kids his age already had most of these "tricks" down a long time ago but Luke has always been pretty content to just be. Now he's a little more adventurous and it sure is fun to watch! ;)
